Criss-crossing catwalks and the world; model shares her New York Fashion Week journey

Reuters - Walking the runways at New York Fashion Week is a big deal to most models including Jordan Daniels who is returning for the second time. The South African born and New Zealand bred model had to sit half of the February 2019 season out after coming down with pneumonia. Before the official start of shows, the 5'11 beauty weaves through the streets of Manhattan going to castings, fittings and makeup tests - a process she has grown to love. "It's been like an overall positive experience and it is really hard to believe but, I think it's probably the best thing I can do with my life right now, being so young." However, the busy schedule keeps her from seeing her parents on a regular basis over the past three years, but the perks outweigh the challenges. "You get free traveling, you're going out and seeing a bunch of new places. You're getting to like emerge into different cultures in a different way," said Daniels. "I only have to work one day a month to earn what I could have in a whole month of work if I wasn't doing this. So that's like another huge perk. It's, it's long days, but it's like, it adds up in a different way," she added. But the glitz and glamour don't come with exhaustion and isolation. "It's like you're on a plane by yourself, you're in a hotel room by yourself. It's like lonely nights, and then you're working all day and it's like people touching you all day long. You're like out there, you have to be always positive, always happy, even if you're tired, you're jetlagged, you're having a bad week…there's a lot of upsides but also are downsides, just like any other job I feel like." Daniels will be hitting the catwalk in London, Paris, and Milan.
