Colombo (News 1st) – The Sri Lankan delegation attending the 42nd session of the UNHRC in Geneva, stated that Sri Lanka’s national commitment and resolution to make continued progress remain strong despite constraints.
Member of Sri Lanka Foreign Service, Dayani Mendis stated that accepting the OMP’s recommendation, families of the missing with the certificate of absence will be eligible to a monthly allowance from October 2019. She further added that a sum of Rs.500 million has been earmarked in the 2019 budget to support families of the missing and disappeared persons. “Mr. President, as we proceed on our path, we urge this council to accord due recognition to the gains made by Sri Lanka amidst numerous challenges”, she added.
