COLOMBO (News 1st): Employees of the Department of the National Zoological Gardens has commenced a one-day strike.
Secretary of the Zoology Trade Unions Collective, Priyantha Wickramasinghe says that the strike was launched because requests to increase their benefits were met with no response. He further said that a strike was also launched in the Dehiwela, Pinnawala zoological gardens, and Ridiyagama safari park as well as at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
When News1st inquired from the Director of the Department of the National Zoological Gardens, Dhammika Malsingha she said that despite the strike, they have planned to provide maximum service for tourists.
