COLOMBO (News 1st) – Export Vision 2030, organized by the National Chamber of Exporters was held in Colombo last evening(September 03). The forum held under the theme “Focusing on the future of the country” highlighted the issues faced by exporters and discussed the changes that are required to meet with the Export Vision 2030.
Harry Jayawardena, renowned businessman stressed it was time to trace back the 70 years of history and they ought to avoid mistakes they did. He added that following the independence from colonials, D.S. Senanayake focused on agriculture to nurture the entire nation, which was correct for the nation at the time. He added that current politics in Sri Lanka has ruined the country to the core, including himself. He noted that corruption has overruled everything, including laws and discipline.
He added that Sri Lanka is an island that spends billions on importing milk powder and which imported sick heifers. He noted that it was not necessary to bring anything from overseas and that Sri Lanka is self-sustainable.
