Colombo (News 1st): Sri Lankan middle-order batsman Niroshan Dickwella apologized to the fans for losing the Twenty20 series against New Zealand. He further thanked supporters for their encouragement adding the team would carry forward the faith placed by 22 million Sri Lankan Cricket fans.
He noted that they were 10 or 12 runs short, but while bowling, even though they conceded around 50 runs during the powerplay, they took three wickets and came back into the game. He believes the reason behind their loss is they gave away chances to win from the fielding department.
Dickwella said all 11 of them must take responsibility for the loss as a team, however, noted that he is encouraged by the fact that they went till the last over in both games. He noted that he was delighted to see the number of supporters coming into the stadium.
“Both of us have the same aim at heart, and that is to win not lose. Only the player knows the responsibility. I must apologize to the fans.” – Niroshan Dickwella
