Factions have ulterior motives behind clinical waste disposals : CEA

Colombo (News1st) - The Central Environmental Authority stated that the improper disposal of clinical waste from hospitals reported in recent days had been carried out by a certain faction. Director of Waste Management Unit Ajith Weerasundara CEA stated that judicial actions had been instituted against the responsible suspects. He noted that further investigations regarding the matter are underway. Reports regarding improper disposal of clinical waste in several locations including Sevanagala and Hambantota had emerged during the recent past. Ajith Weerasundara mentioned that all hospitals are mandated to obtain a permit from the Central Environment Authority in order to have their clinical waste disposed. He further noted that investigations are carried out on other incidents around the island.
