Head jailer murder: Suspect arrested at Kuleegoda

Colombo (News 1st): Police arrested a 27-year-old man over the assassination of the head jailer of the Welikada Prison Training School which took place in Ambalangoda. Investigations via a number of avenues using CCTV footage and telecommunication analysis led detectives to Kuleegoda resulting in the arrest of the suspect last evening (September 2). Interrogation of the suspect led to the discovery of a T56 Assault Rifle, a magazine with 12 bullets and a motorcycle used to commit the crime. In addition, another 42-year-old man was arrested from Ambalangoda for allegedly using the firearm seized from the possession of the 27-year-old man. Both suspects will be produced at the Balapitiya Magistrate's Court. Two unknown gunmen gunned down Thilina Ruwan, the head jailer of the Welikada Prison Training School, on the 03rd of last month.
