COLOMBO (News 1st) - Australian authorities have arrested another boat with 13 Sri Lankans who attempted to migrate illegally to Australia. Australian Minister for Home Affairs, Peter Dutton stated that the vessel was apprehended by the Australian security forces in close proximity to Cocos island in Indian ocean which falls under Australian jurisdiction. It was reported that this was the 13th vessel to attempt to enter Australia illegally in the last 18 months. The minister revealed this, rationalizing the act of sending a Sri Lankan family to the detention centre on Christmas Island. He further added that he plans to visit Sri Lanka following the election with the intention of putting a stop to the illegal migration attempts into Australia as this was a serious concern. Australia's strict immigration policies call for illegal immigrants to return to their origin while those who step on the Australian soil are rerouted to the detention facilities in Papua New Guinea and Nauru islands.
