UNP’s candidate will be one capable of winning and has the people’s mandate” : UNP Chairman Kabir Hashim

COLOMBO (News 1st):- Speaking on the special meeting that took place between the UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and senior members of the party, Chairman of the United National Party, Minister Kabir Hashim said that at present four to five members have been proposed to be fielded as the candidate for the upcoming election. He said that this matter was what was taken up during the meeting and further said that they agreed upon selecting the most suitable individual to be fielded in as the candidate in the coming days. Hashim also mentioned that the Prime Minister had proposed that the potential candidate who has a mandate of a majority, and the ability to win the Presidential election will be selected at the upcoming meeting. Journalist: If by any chance the group including the Prime Minister, does not select Minister Sajith Premadasa as the party's presidential candidate, will Sajith remain quiet?
