COLOMBO (News 1st):- Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa speaking at a convention held in Piliyandala yesterday (August 31) said that in 2017 that the government signed the ACSA agreement while also saying that during their regime that Gotabaya had signed the same agreement for 10 years which was only 9 pages but said that this agreement is 83 pages. He further said that the agreement signed by Gotabaya has a provision at the end which says this agreement will only be enforceable after the signing of another agreement but said that a second agreement was not even signed. Weerawansa says that the new 83 pages agreement does not include such a clause which allows the US troops to break into the country during an emergency since they have also listed out the military units that are allowed to enter. He questions what possibly could be such an emergency for American troops to enter into the country unless it is created. He further says that for religious extremism to be propagated that funds are needed from foreign countries which also requires the foreign act to be amended. He added that the oversight powers of the CBSL on money coming into the country if so should also be removed, which was what they did in 2017.   https://youtu.be/JmgMdx9K-gQ
