Democracy is about majority, the majority wants Sajith Premadasa - MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The 264th model village was declared open by Deputy Leader of the United National Party Minister Sajith Premadasa. The Sahirugama Uda Gammanaya was declared open in Hatangala in the Ratnapura district today(August 29). The 23 houses in the village were built at a cost of Rs 37.4mn. Minister Sajith Premadasa, noted that he would safeguard the farmer in the country and provide a satisfactory market value for their harvest. He added that he would be an independent and work bound president. He added that he would not live by tax money and would be a president who would embrace equal footing with the public. UNP MP Hesha Vithanage stated that the country needed a strong leader who would allow all the state leaders to work freely. He added that Minister Sajith Premadasa is the only leader who could bring discipline and order into the party. Meanwhile, Leader of the Democratic Left Front Vasudeva Nanayakkara convened a media briefing in Colombo today and shared his thoughts on the contradictory opinion between Minister Sajith Premadasa and prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe over the presidential candidate. He questioned how does the premier state that Minister Sajith Premadasa is not the presidential candidate when Minister Sajith Premadasa claims he is the presidential candidate in every major rally he attends? MP noted that democracy meant bowing down to the majority and majority wants Minister Sajith Premadasa. He added that if there is a better contestant who could amass a crowd as Minister Sajith Premadasa could, he should come forward. He questioned whether Speaker Karu Jayasuriya could amass a crowd in his own village? He noted that the speaker could not.
