I will steer Sri Lanka to digitalization: Minister Sajith Premadasa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An event was held in Mirigama to present land deeds to new residents under the auspices of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. He presented land deeds to 143 locals residing in Meerigama. The event was attended by Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka. Gayantha Karunatileka, Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms noted that Uda Gammana housing project is constructing a number of houses throughout the country for the benefit of people. He added that along with the house the beneficiaries also receive land of 10-15 perches which will be valuable in the long term. Meanwhile, Minister Sajith Premadasa declared open two Uda Gammana projects in Dehiaththakandiya. A ceremony to welcome Minister Sajith Premadasa was organized at the event. 65 houses were constructed at the two villages named Wewasara-gama and Senahimi gama at a cost of Rs 77.2mn. Minister Sajith Premadasa noted that after this November he will steer all these villages towards a digital revolution. He added that the digital world should not be confined to the city limits and it should spread across the island. The Minister shared an experience he had while on his way to declare open an Udagammana village. Minister Sajith Premadasa noted that on his way he had seen a brand new ambulance overtake his vehicle, and he had inquired the driver whether it was an emergency. He was told that the ambulance was headed to the event in order to provide sanitary facilities for the VIPs at the event. Minister added that he advised the ambulance driver to direct himself towards the Dehiaththakandiya hospital as it was necessary for the people in need. He went on to note that he believed an ambulance should not take care of just Sajith Premadasa and it should be for people. "That is the difference that comes with Sajith Premadasa" he concluded.
