COLOMBO (News 1st) – A bridge constructed in Walasmulla, Hambantota under the Semata Sahana program was vested with the public today (August 22), under the auspices of the deputy leader of the UNP, Minister Sajith Premadasa.
This bridge named the Maharaja Walagamba was constructed at a cost of Rs 10.1 mn across the Batagassa Kirama Oya. Prior to the construction of this bridge, locals used only a footbridge.
Minister Sajith Premadasa also used the same foot-bridge to experience what locals used until now.
Sajith Premadasa noted that he crossed the bridge using the foot-bridge just to experience what the people of Sri Lanka experienced every day; hardships. He added that in recent history a bullet-proof vehicle was more important than a bridge for children to cross safely.
He added that he is more than committed to serve the people of his country.
