Announce the presidential candidate or we are forced to look for alternatives-Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Jathika Hela Urumaya convened a media briefing today and Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, General Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya shared his thoughts on the announcement of the presidential candidate of the UNP. He shared that a broad alliance was necessary to elect a president in 2020. He noted that all the pertaining issues for the formation of the alliance were discussed and all that remains is to form the alliance and formally announce the presidential candidate. He added that it was high time the premier, Ranil Wickremesinghe announces the presidential candidate without further delay and if it is to take longer they would resort to other alternatives." Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka added that Minister Sajith Premadasa and his faction had consented to form the new alliance. The Minister refrained from commenting regarding the rumours which are circulating among some factions of the UNP, that he could be the presidential candidate. He confidently noted that their party which only had 46 seats in the parliament ended up with 76 seats as they destroyed the Rajapaksa camp which is no more.
