Colombo (News 1st): The foundation stone for the construction of the bridge connecting the Suriyapokuna Village and Pahalagama in Agunakolapalessa was laid today (August 21) by the deputy leader of the United National Party Minister Sajith Premadasa.
A sum of Rs. 39.3 million has been allocated for the construction of this bridge and the construction of this bridge will solve transportation issues for over 1500 families.
Speaking at the event UNP Deputy Leader Minister Sajith Premadasa said while Rs. 4.2 billion was spent to construct a cricket stadium in the Hambantota District, nothing much was done for the 1500 plus families living in Angunukolapelessa, Pahalagama, and Sooriyapokuna during the previous administration.
The minister appealed to the people to elect leaders who understand the pulse of the people rather than lining up their own pockets.
