Colombo (News 1st) - A village located at the border of Kalawewa National Park, Kekirawa is reportedly exposed to constant wild elephant threats. The village depends on farming. Residents claimed that wild elephants from the National Park storm their cultivations at night destroying their crops. The locals stated that an electric fence was set up years ago in order to contain the issue. However, since its implementation, the fence has been inactive and is now in a dilapidated condition. The villagers pray to see an end in this harsh life that they are made to live.
