Colombo (News 1st): The Ministry of Health launched a special investigation to probe the improper disposal of clinical waste from hospitals. Director-General of Health Services Specialist Dr Anil Jasinghe said over the recent reports of improper disposal of clinical waste from hospitals across several districts raised serious concerns.

However, he said a streamlined system is in place for all hospitals to dispose of their clinical waste. Incidents raising concern were reported from Hambantota, Medilla Reserve, and Sevanagala while it was revealed clinical waste was stored at the Badulla Hospital without proper disposal measures in place.
