Another five arrested over Grandpass double murder

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Police STF arrested another five suspects in connection to the murder of two people including the organized criminal named "Anamalu Ranga" near the Madampitiya Cemetery in Grandpass last evening (August 15). Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said that the suspects were arrested from Hunupitiya, Wattala when they were fleeing in a three-wheeler. Investigations are ongoing to trace the whereabouts of the swords and knives that were used by the suspects for the murder. Meanwhile, three other suspects were arrested this morning (August 16) over the same incident. They were ordered to remand custody till the 23rd of this month after they were presented before the Hulfstdorp Magistrates Court. The police who arrived at the scene for investigations had managed to discover the three-wheeler that the suspects had used to arrive at the location. The owner of the three-wheeler was identified as the wife of "Kudu Roshan" who is currently in custody. Thereby, the police STF had inspected her house situated in Mattakuliya and has also interrogated a few suspicious individuals who were in the area. Among the individuals arrested over the incident is the brother of "Kudu Roshan." The murder which was carried out by stabbing the victims with the use of sharp weapons happened last evening (August 15).
