Former SriLankan Airlines chairman to appear before PCoI

Colombo (News 1st): Ajith Dias, the former Chairman of SriLankan Airlines was instructed to appear before the Presidential Commission to investigate serious fraud and corruption took place at a state institution in the last four years. He was requested to appear before the commission to provide a statement on the losses incurred for storing paddy at the Mattala Airport. In addition to this, Mineral Resources geology professor K.M. Amarasena was summoned to appear before the commission in relation to a complaint lodged for exporting soil mixed with gold. Alleged corruption when issuing vouchers for School uniforms and a complaint received against Sri Lanka Electricity board will be taken up at the commission. The complaint which is to be taken up today also includes several illegal appointments made at the Road Development Authority by Minister Lakshman Kiriella. Meanwhile, Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera who was originally requested to appear before the commission yesterday will appear on the 09th of next month to provide a statement based on a request made by him.
