COLOMBO (News 1st): A five-member judge bench presided by the Chief Justice has been appointed to consider if the provincial council elections could be held. President Maithripala Sirisena had consulted the Supreme Court's opinion on whether the provincial council elections could be held against a backdrop where the delimitation report has not yet been submitted. Thereby, the bench of judges comprising of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya judges Buwaneka Aluwihare, Sisira De Abrew, Prasanna Jayawardene, and Wijith Malalgoda will consider the matter on the 23rd of this month. The Chief Justice has further informed the President of the Bar Association to present any written reports on the matter before the 21st of this month. The President informed the Supreme Court to inform their opinion on the PC elections before the 30th of this month.
