Govt. to present supplementary estimate instead of a budget proposal

Colombo (News 1st): The government has decided to present a Supplementary Estimate instead of a Budget Proposal to cover government expenses for the beginning of next year. A government minister said the proposal presented by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera received Cabinet approval yesterday (August 13). The upcoming Presidential Elections and other elections due to be held early next year were taken into consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers when reaching this decision. The supplementary estimate is to be presented in mid-November this year.
