UNP will nominate candidate through collective decision -Minister Navin Dissanayaka

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  At an event to declare open a training centre, minister Navin Dissanayaka stated that they will nominate their presidential candidate in due time. He added that their party is not centred around a single-family and they have the option to nominate a candidate through a collective decision. When he was questioned whether they are prepared to take on Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the minister was confident that former president Mahinda Rajapaksa was popular than Gotabaya Rajapaksa himself and they managed to defeat him in 2015. He added that it would make no difference in the 2020 election as well. The event was attended by the Senior officials at the Coconut Cultivation Board. Financial aid for lower-income families for self-employment opportunities, machines to pluck coconut and coconut saplings were presented at the event.
