Ranil Wickremesinghe has turned Sri Lanka into a garbage dump : Ven. Bandiwewa Diyasena Thero

Colombo (News 1st) - The garbage that piled up in Colombo during the past few days has been removed. The garbage that was removed was disposed at the Aruwakkalu garbage recycling plant amidst special police security. The residents in the area had blocked the road and objected to the dumping of garbage at the site. A protest was staged yesterday blocking the entry of the garbage trucks to the Aruwakkalu garbage recycling plant in Puttlam. The protesters marched to the Puttlam town from the 4th milepost in Puttlam. The garbage trucks were turned back and at about 1 p.m. yesterday the trucks were escorted to the Aruwakkalu garbage disposal facility with special police security. The Court of Appeal had issued an order to the Wanathawilluwa Pradeshiya Saba to allow garbage from Colombo to be disposed at the Aruwakkalu garbage recycling plant without any obstruction. The protest was staged yesterday against such a backdrop. The Municipal Commissioner of Colombo said that legal action will be filed against the people who staged the protest yesterday. Colombo Municipal commissioner Palitha Nanayakkara also stated that the unsegregated garbage collected from the Colombo city limits will not be accepted. He added that legal action will be taken against those who dispose of garbage at public places. UPFA MP Sanath Nishantha expressed a few thoughts on the garbage being disposed of in Aruwakkalu. He emphasized his statements to the current government and the governments to come that Puttalam district is not a garbage dump for the rest of the country. "If anyone is thinking that the people in Puttlam are donkey's, that is not the case", he further added. He added that the procedure in which the garbage was brought to Aruwakkalu was what they are against and not about the garbage being disposed at Aruwakkalu. Ven. Bandiwewa Diyasena Thero reacted to the garbage disposal at Aruwakkalu and expressed the following thoughts: "These people are trying to convert the culture that was started by the arrival of Vijaya in this country into a garbage dump. These acts will anger the gods in the future. Ranil Wickremesinghe has turned this country that possesses a proud history into a garbage dump. "
