HND protesters met with water cannons and tear gas

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse a protest march organized by HND students in Colombo today(August 07). The protest march that commenced opposite the Fort Railway Station headed towards the Lotus roundabout in Colombo. The students then attempted to make their way towards the Presidential Secretariat. Police took steps to launch tear gas and water cannons in a bid to disperse the protest march. As a result of the protest, Lotus road leading to Galle Face was temporarily closed down.
