5 arrested for stealing gems, jewellery worth Rs. 30 mn

Colombo (News 1st): Five persons were arrested by Police last evening for stealing gems, jewellery and cash to the tune of over Rs. 30 million from a business establishment in Pelmadulla, Ratnapura. News 1st correspondent in the area said the heist took place on July 27th and among the arrested are two school teachers and deserters from the Sri Lanka Army. Sri Lanka Police seized a motorcycle and a three-wheeler used to commit the heist and the suspects are due to be produced at the Pelmadulla Courts.
