"Chairman of SLFP will be the candidate" - Duminda Dissanayake

Colombo (News 1st): The National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Duminda Dissanayake expressing his views regarding the presidential candidate at the party headquarters today (August 6) noted that as a party, their stance is that the chairman of the SLFP will be the candidate. However, he said if they are to create an alliance or if the alliance is to broaden, they are ready to listen to the requirements of the alliance as well. When questioned if the SLFP is divided into three when it comes to the presidential candidate, he noted that they are all of the same view that the most suitable candidate of the SLFP is Maithripala Sirisena. He noted that be it for the SLPP or the UNP the presidential candidate will be decided based on where the SLFP stands. Adding to this UPFA MP Thilanga Sumathipala noted that the two parties have a policy based agreement and there are several factors regarding the new alliance structure that should be resolved at a meeting between Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Maithripala. He noted that the rest will take place afterwards.
