Chairman of Election Commission requests to hold provincial council elections

Colombo (News 1st): Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya expressing his views regarding the upcoming elections noted that they still believe that the provincial council elections could be held before the presidential election. However, he said they know that the presidential election will definitely be held between November 15th and  December 7th, therefore if the provincial council election is to be held before the presidential election during this year, they should be informed at least within these 10 days. Deshapriya noted that they will attempt to hold the provincial council election at least after the presidential election is held. He requested all political parties to pass a bill in parliament.
