Wild elephant attack takes life of a child

Colombo (News1st) - A wild elephant attack reported from Kuda Oya, Mahiyangana around 1:30 this morning, has taken the life of an 8-year-old leaving her grandmother injured (August 5). The walls of the house had collapsed onto the deceased as she had been sleeping during the elephant attack. The grandmother of the deceased retained severe injuries on her spinal cord and was admitted to the Mahiyangana Hospital. The deceased victim was caught up in this tragedy during her stay at the residence of a relative who also had been occupied at the same space and retained mild injuries.
