Cancer medicine shortage in hospitals

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Health officials states that hospitals from around the country report a shortage of medication required for cancer and other diseases. Deputy Director-General of the Medical Supplies Division, Dr. B. R. K. Herath states that a special team has been deployed to look into the prevailing shortage. He further says that if there is an actual shortage that immediate measures will be taken to resolve the issue. He adds that hospitals which report a shortage in medication are currently being investigated. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health states that if a shortage of medication is reported from a hospital that measures will be taken to provide the required medicine to the hospitals through an additional supplementary estimate.
