Two murders within the past 24 hours

COLOMBO (News 1st): During the past 24 hours a number of crimes were reported from around the country. Nugegoda In an incident reported from Jambugasmulla, Nugegoda a person who was on his way back home after a party was shot dead this morning (July 28). A person who was travelling with him during the incident was admitted to the National Hospital after he sustained injuries. Two men who had arrived at the scene in a jeep had shot the victim when he was reversing his car out of the narrow lane leading to the house in which the party was held. The gunmen had also damaged lamp posts in the area. The deceased victim, identified as a resident of Walauwatta, Gangodawila is a 34-year-old individual named Ruwan Perera. He owned a restaurant in Kottawa and has reportedly been making preparations to open another one in Nugegoda on the 1st of August. Kosgama A chief suspect connected to a double homicide which occurred on May 2nd 2018 in Mandiya, Werella was hacked to death in Kaluaggala, Kosgama this afternoon (July 28). The court had ordered the murdered suspect to produce himself at the Kosgama police station every Sunday in connection to the murder of two women. The police said that he was murdered when he was on his way back home after visiting the Kosgama police station. The assailant had arrived at the scene in a van. The police express suspicion that the murder may have been committed by one of the husbands of the two deceased women. Five suspects have already been arrested over the incident and are due to be produced before courts tomorrow (July 29).
