Colombo (News 1st): The Second Permanent High Court Trial at Bar today (July 26) ordered for two accused including MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and two sureties of Rs. 01 Million each.
The case against the former Minister was filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption under 06 separate indictments for offenses under the Bribery Act. The charges include by the distribution of Carrom and Checkers Boards valued at over 50 Million imported via Lak Sathosa in an improper manner during the run-up to the 2015 Presidential Election.
The case was taken up in the presence of Justices R. Gurusinghe, Sashi Mahendran, and Amal Ranaraja. Indictments were handed over to Former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Ex-Lak Sathosa Chairman Nalin Ruwanjeewa in open court.
The case will be taken up again on the 30th of August.
