Colombo(News1st) – According to the National Disaster Relief Services Centre (NDRSC), the strong winds that affected the island during the past few days, damaged 3600 houses and buildings
Director of NDRSC Chaminda Pathiraja stated 3500 houses were damaged and that a majority of the damages were reported from the districts of Matara, Galle, and Kalutara. He added that they have taken steps to provide compensation of Rs 10,000 to each affected residence.
Furthermore, he stated that the Divisional Secretariat has begun to analyze and estimate the damage costs at a divisional level. The divisional Secretariats have been allocated Rs.26.9 Million by the National Disaster Relief Services Centre in order to provide compensation for damages caused by the inclement weather.
