REUTERS: Iran's seizure of a British-flagged tanker raises very serious questions for British and international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, UK Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt said on Saturday (July 20). The British government's emergency response committee COBRA discussed the situation at length and a statement will be made to parliament on Monday (July 21) on further measures Britain will take, he told reporters. Iran's Fars news agency said the country's Revolutionary Guards had taken control of the Stena Impero on Friday (July 19) after it collided with an Iranian fishing boat whose distress call it ignored. The vessel, carrying no cargo, was taken to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. It would remain there with its 23 crew -- 18 of them Indians -- while the accident is investigated, the Iranian news agencies quoting the head of Ports and Maritime Organisation in southern Hormozgan province.
