COLOMBO (News 1st) – The current postal strike has interrupted the mail exchange procedure in the Colombo area.
Postal service employees commenced a 48-hour strike action with effect from 4 pm yesterday(July 16). Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance Chinthaka Bandara said that this strike is carried out due to disparities in recruitment, promotions, and salary structure.
News 1st reached Postmaster General, Ranjith Ariyaratne regarding the matter.
He noted that despite the submission of a proposal to the Cabinet to meet the demands, postal service employees have launched a strike anyway.
