New refined Carbon Tax in 2020

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government intends to introduce an alternative for the current carbon tax. A senior official of the Ministry of Transport noted that the Parliamentary Oversight Committee had reached an agreement with regard to transport. The Ministry of Transport further noted that a number of complaints regarding the current carbon tax collecting methodology have been received. An official of the Transport Ministry added that this decision which was made after considering the complaints and that the new method is to be introduced from next year with the approval of the Ministry of Finance.
