COLOMBO (News 1st): Parliamentarian Dr Ramesh Pathirana commenting on the proposed land draft bill said that the Prime Minister and the present government is planning on launching a program to alienate land in the country. He further said that the sudden procedure followed by the government regarding the land of this country is all in preparation for the proposed US agreements, the Millenium Challenge Compact, the SOFA and the ACSA. The MP said that once the public receives those lands that the government will go ahead in purchasing the very lands for higher prices and that all state lands will be taken under a land bank which will, in turn, enable the government to provide a land area of one million acres of land to the US investors. He said that the matter is evident when the MCC compact is analyzed and added that the government should also join hands with the opposition to prevent this from taking place.
