Reuters - A part of an under-construction building collapsed in India's southern Bengaluru city, on Wednesday (July 10) morning, killing one person and injuring about nine others. The incident happened at around 2.30 in the morning (GMT 2100) when some of the construction workers were sleeping at the site with their family. According to the mayor, construction of an additional illegal floor was underway leading to the collapse of a part of the building. A rescue official said five have been rescued so far and they were still looking for more survivors. According to the latest local media reports, the death toll has risen to four. Building collapses in India are common, aggravated by the use of poor building materials, substandard maintenance practices, and unprofessional work-skills.
