17 people arrested for damaging property at Blumenthal estate

COLOMBO (News 1st): Seventeen people have been arrested for damages caused to a bungalow and a factory at Blumenthal estate in Kotmale. The police said that the damages were caused as a result of a conflict between the workers and the management of the estate regarding EPF. Three vehicles belonging to the workers were also damaged in the incident. The police further said that the suspects had taken a sum of Rs. 1.5 million from the Bungalow. The workers had also engaged in a protest yesterday (July 5) urging that their EPF be paid.
