90,000 hectares allocated for re-forestation

Forest cover goal of 32% : 90,000 hectares allocated for re-forestation

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Forest Conservation states that a land area of 90,000 hectares has been allocated for re-forestation in an aim to increase the forest cover of the country to 32% of the total land mass. The General of Forest Conservation, W. A. C. Weragoda states that the matter will also receive the support of many voluntary organizations. At present, the forest cover of Sri Lanka stands at 29.7%.
