"We have leaders who can lead the country as a whole" - Minister Mangala Samaraweera

Colombo (News 1st): Minister Mangala Samaraweera expressing his views during an interview where the subject of the Presidential election was brought up noted that he thought it was a joke that was being spread and that there is no truth that he was the candidate. He added that one thing he does know is that this time, the United National Party will not see an imported candidate, because the United National Party has not seen a Presidential candidate in more than 24 years. He said after 24 years, UNPers in the village are excited about the prospect of seeing their own candidate win and be elected President. The Minister noted that even though they have seen a Government led by the UNP, the UNPers have not been treated well. He noted that apart from this, the United National Party is one that has its own vision so there is no need to plug in businessmen from somewhere.  He noted that they have leaders who can lead the country as a whole.
