Five-judge bench appointed to examine the petition against death penalty

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A five-judge bench has been appointed to consider the writ petition filed requesting an injunction order be issued against the death penalty. The writ petition has been filed before the Court of Appeal by journalist Malinda Seneviratne. The other members of the bench headed by President of the Court of Appeal Yasantha Kodagoda, are Justices Deepali Wijesundara, Janak De Silva, Achala Wengappuli and Arjuna Obeysekera. News 1st correspondent noted that the writ petition is to be considered before the five-judge bench today(July 02).
