COLOMBO (News 1st): Attending an awareness program in the Polonnaruwa district, former Auditor General Gamini Wijesinghe said that even though he should remain silent in a situation like this, that he cannot remain silent in the face of an economy that is going downhill.
The former AG while relating to those gathered about a recent statement made by the Prime Minister that King Dutugemnu should also learn to develop the country from the development drive at present, expressed his deep sadness for trying to teach the ancient king to learn to take loans like the present government.
Highlighting the importance of using peoples vote properly, the former Auditor General said that it is not just sufficient to criticize such shameful statements made by the leaders of the country but that the time has come to make an educated choice when electing people.
He added that within the present government that the budgetary proposal prepared by the Ministry of Finance has been limited to writing on paper.
