Western Province governor accused of hampering legal process on warehouse raid

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Public Health Inspectors (PHI) Association accuses the Western Province Governor of attempting to hamper the legalities of the case regarding a raid conducted on a warehouse which stored grains unsuitable for human consumption in Mabima, Biyagama. Issuing a communique, the association stated that on the 25th of this month a haul of grains unsuitable for human consumption valued at over Rs. 58,000 was discovered when inspecting a warehouse owned by an individual named Noor Mohommad Siddik. The PHI's of the Makola South and Heyyanthuyduwa had sealed the warehouse upon the discovery. They noted that the grains which included dhal, green gram and cowpea were covered with bird faeces and insects. Secretary of the PHI association, Mahendra Balasuriya said that the Western Province Governor, A. J. M. Muzammil had threatened the officials who had conducted the raid in an attempt to hamper the legal process.
