1029 kg of heroin seized so far this year

Colombo (News 1st): Police headquarters today (June 26) announced that it seized 1029 kilograms of heroin so far this year and 20,309 suspects were arrested. The Police media unit said that in 2018 alone 737 kilograms of heroin were seized and 40,987 suspects were arrested. In 2017 a total of 29,272 suspects were arrested for heroin-related charges and a total of 278 kilograms were seized. In 2016 only 196 kilograms of heroin were seized and 27,458 suspects were arrested. In 2015 only 50 kilograms of heroin were seized and 26,047 suspects were arrested.
