Inland Revenue Department contributes 50% of government salaries

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Nadun Guruge, the Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department stated that Sri Lanka is a welfare state as the government provides numerous services for free. He made this statement at a ceremony at Ambalangoda Dharmasoka College to felicitate him. The ceremony was organized by the Past Pupils Association of the College, the staff and parents. Commissioner General, Ashoka Nandun Guruge was presented an honorary award by the Principal at the ceremony. Asoka Nandun Guruge, Commissioner General-Inland Revenue Department noted that the IRD contributes 50% for paying of the salaries of the 1.4 million state employees.
