MR to name the Presidential candidate on August 12th - Kumara Welgama

COLOMBO (News 1st): While speaking in Welimada today (June 23), Parliamentarian Kumara Welgama spoke on the views being expressed about the Presidential nominee of the Podujana Peramuna. Journalist: One team of the flower bud says that on the 11th Mahinda Rajapaksa will reveal the presidential candidate. Then Vasudeva Nanayakkara says that there is no programme, a candidate nor an alliance. UPFA MP responding to this said that although he knows that there is such a program that he is a SLFPer while also saying that he believes that MR will name the candidate on August 12th and that the UNP will name theirs by July 1st. He further said that he was informed that Rohan Pallewatte and Nagananda will also join the parade. Journalist: Then doesn't the party discuss and name a candidate? Does this happen as per the wishes of Mahinda Rajapaksa? He responded that although they have not been informed of such a matter that he believes they will reach a good decision. Commenting on whether he will extend his support if Gotabaya is appointed he said that the latter is currently in a hospital in Singapore. The parliamentarian further said that he is not sure on the Presidential candidate who will come forward as yet. Journalist: They have compiled lists at the Grama Seva division level for Samurdhi beneficiaries. In these lists, the first few positions are vacant while the middle sections have been filled. MP Welgama replied that he cannot accuse one party because even they had granted the Samurdhi during their regime and that when taking into consideration the procedure followed by them during their times that he will not choose to accuse another party.
