Suspect who attempted to bribe Horowpathana OIC to release 2 NTJ members released on bail

Colombo (News 1st): The man who was arrested and remanded for offering a bribe of Rs. 250,000 to the Horowpathana Police OIC was today released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (June 18). The suspect was ordered to be released on Rs. 15,000 cash bail and 02 sureties of Rs. 400,000 each. The Chief Magistrate ordered bail considering the fact that the Bribery Commission had concluded its investigations on the suspect. The case will be called up again on September 10th for future action to be taken on the suspect. The suspect had offered a bribe of Rs. 500,000 to the Horowpathana OIC to secure the release of his uncle arrested for aiding the terror acts of the banned National Thawheed Jamaath and was arrested when he made an offer of Rs. 250,000.
