Imported heifers were sick before importing

COLOMBO (News 1st) - At the Presidential Commission of Inquiry yesterday(June 18), evidence was recorded from 03 veterinarians over alleged malpractices that occurred in the import of dairy heifers by the Ministry of Rural Economic Development. The 03 veterinarians had inspected the imported heifers purchased by a private farm in Maskeliya testified that heifers were ill even before they were imported to the country. They added that it was the reason for the unusual number of heifer (imported) deaths in the country.
