Anuradhapura mayor and several others further remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Mayor of Anuradhapura, Ex-Chairman of the North Central Provincial Council, Deputy Chairman of the Rajanganaya PS and two others were remanded until June 24th by acting Magistrate of Thambuttegama Pushpapani Wickremesinghe. They were charged with bombing the residence of Ananda Weragoda, the Anuradhapura Food and Medicine Inspector who worked as the Anuradhapura District's UNP membership promotional officer and causing damages valued over Rs 3mn. Police said the suspects committed the crime during the 1999 Presidential Elections.
