Pension anomalies of 500,000 pensioners to be rectified

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  The Finance Ministry stated that salary anomalies of over 500,000 pensioners will be rectified from July 1st. Accordingly, a government employee who retired before December 31st, 2015 will get an increment between Rs. 2,800 and Rs. 20,000. Salary increments of the retired government employees are as follows,
  • KKS Grade 1 will be increased by Rs 2,800.
  • Management Assistant Grade 1 by Rs. 5,200.
  • Teachers and retired nursing officers in Grade 1 by Rs. 9,200.
  • Police Sergeant by Rs. 4,200.
  • Senior executive officer by Rs. 16,000.
  • Ministry Secretary by Rs. 20,000.
The interim allowance of Rs. 3,500 paid to the pensioners who retired under the circular 05/2015 will be included to the new salary structure until this new salary anomaly is removed. Further, the cost of living allowance of Rs. 3,525 at present will be continued to be paid to all pensioners. The Finance Ministry added that Rs. 12,000mn had been allocated from the 2019 budget for this pension scheme.
